Star of the BBC’s legendary The Fast Show Simon Day comes to Maidenhead on his first ever stand-up tour on Friday 14 November at 8pm.
Millions of viewers grew up loving the fast-moving character-based sketch show in which Simon starred alongside Harry Enfield, Charlie Higson and Paul Whitehouse from 1994 until it went out on a high in 2000.
Simon played some of the show’s best-loved characters included Dave Angel: Eco Warrior, Competitive Dad, Inspector Monkfish, and Billy Bleach, The Fast Show's permed pub bore who was an expert on everything and became the subject of BBC Three drams Grass.
Simon now sets out on his first ever solo tour with new show What a Fool Believes. Stripped of any wigs hats, or comedy glasses, he will attempt to explain what it is like to be a clown, hero, genius, loser and true artist in an unmissable show.
He actually started his career as a stand-up comedian back in 1990, and won the Time Out new act of the year in 1991 with his comedy music hall character Tommy Cockles. He then appeared on the BBC One show Paramount City as a weekly guest and joined up with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer for two tours and two series of Big Night Out.
Once The Fast Show came calling, Simon became a well-known face on TV screens, and also played Geoff, an alcoholic car salesman in the spin-off TV sitcom Swiss Toni, also starring Charlie Higson and Rhys Thomas.
Another career milestone was his cameo alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Joseph Fiennes in 1998's Shakespeare in Love.
Tickets for Simon Day are priced at £15 (£13 conc) and are available from the Box Office on 01628 788997 or online.
