Beginners/Gentle Yoga

Led by Julie Potter

This class is particularly suited to beginners, those returning to yoga having had a break, those with specific injuries or conditions or even those that consider themselves to be of a certain age that might need a less challenging approach. We will cover general breathing practises, the basic and gentler postures, together with general information and possible discussion around movement and the potential difficulties we might come up against.

The aim will be to relax and enjoy.

The yoga I teach is an evolution of nearly 30 years of practice and study, with a broad experience of many styles and teachers. In recent years I have been moving away from ‘external’ evaluation of the postures and moving towards an internal sense of the postures, moving away from the more used traditional approach of systemised yoga to a more experiential and felt approach, influenced by teachers who have been inspired by the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli.

Please bring a blanket, a Yoga / Pilates mat, and wear loose comfortable clothing

The Seed of the Sacred Fig (15)

Dir: Mohammad Rasoulof 2024 | 167 mins

Farsi with English subtitles

Shot entirely in secret, Mohammad Rasoulof’s searing, award-winning thriller speaks to the dividing lines in Iranian society.

When Iman is appointed a judge in Tehran, his family is thrust into the public eye. As political unrest erupts in the streets, Iman realises his job is even more dangerous than expected. Becoming increasingly paranoid and distrustful, even of his own wife Najmeh and daughters Sana and Rezvan. His divided loyalties are exposed when his government-issued gun goes missing and suspicion falls on the women in his home.

Combining an electrifying generational battle with real-life footage of Iran’s protest movement, The Seed of the Sacred Fig has a lightning-in-a-bottle urgency that’s hard to capture in fiction or documentary alone.

A mesmerising drama about the courage it takes to resist toxic regimes.

Nominated for Best International Feature at this year’s Academy Awards and BAFTAs.

'Mohammad Rasoulof’s arresting tale of violence and paranoia in Iran' ★★★★ The Guardian

'Mohammad Rasoulof’s domestic thriller is an elegant warning to the Iranian regime' BFI Sight and Sound

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (15)

Dir: Michael Morris 2024 | 130 mins

Bridget is alone once again, widowed four years ago. She’s now a single mother to 9-year-old Billy and 4-year-old Mabel.

She finds herself pressured by her Urban Family - Shazzer, Jude and Tom, her work colleague Miranda, her mother and her gynecologist Dr Rawlings (Emma Thompson) - to forge a new path toward life and love. Bridget goes back to work and even tries out the dating apps, where she’s soon pursued by a dreamy and enthusiastic younger man (Leo Woodall).

Now juggling work, home and romance, Bridget grapples with the judgment of the perfect mums at school, worries about Billy as he struggles with the absence of his father, and engages in a series of awkward interactions with her son’s rational-to-a-fault science teacher (Chiwetel Ejiofor).

'Renée Zellweger’s Bridget faces new challenges in parenting and love, but it’s the familiar faces around her who deliver heart and humour in this unexpectedly poignant fourth outing' ★★★★ The Guardian
