Festive Fusing Fun
Join us for a relaxed, creative festive glass workshop at Norden Farm.
Working with a colourful range of pre-cut and hand-cut glass, you will create a small collection of distinctive Christmas decorations to hang at home or give as thoughtful handmade gifts.
During the workshop, you will be shown how to select and combine colours, cut and safely handle glass, layer pieces to build your design, and add decorative details using frit, stringers and glass dots. Caroline from Bombina Glass will guide you throughout, with plenty of individual support and examples to inspire you.
Suitable for complete beginners and those with some glass experience.
All materials provided including glass, tools, safety gear, decorative elements and kiln firing.
After the workshop, your glass decorations will be taken away to be fused in a specialist kiln. They will be returned to Norden Farm for collection approximately one week later. Finished pieces cannot be taken home on the day.
What the course will cover
• Introduction to fused glass: Understand how glass is layered and kiln-fired to create a smooth, durable finished piece.
• Design and colour: Explore festive shapes, composition and colour combinations, with examples and templates available to use or adapt.
• Glass-cutting and decoration: Learn basic cutting and breaking techniques, then add detail with small glass pieces, frit, stringers and other decorative elements.
• Making your festive collection: Create a Christmas tree, a second character design such as a snowman, robin or traditional soldier, plus an icicle or snowflake.
What to wear
Please wear old clothes that you do not mind getting messy, tie back long hair and wear closed-toe shoes. We will be using glass and glue, so these simple precautions help keep the workshop comfortable and safe.
