Lantern Making Workshop – Nicholsons Centre

Get parade ready in 20 mins!

Drop in to the Nicholsons Centre to make and decorate a simple willow and tissue lantern ready to illuminate on parade night. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Acclaimed children's author Nick Butterworth will be joining us in the foyer to sign books after both the 11am and 2pm performances on Saturday 3 December.
Copies of One Snowy Night and other selected Nick Butterworth titles will be available on the day and online.

The performances on Saturday 3 December at 11am and Wednesday 28 December at 11am are Relaxed. Ideal for families with babies or toddlers and children with SEND. Everyone is welcome to join us for this friendly format.

Storytelling - Nicholsons Shopping Centre

Join Norden Farm Storytellers for FREE One Snowy Night storytelling in the Nicholson's Shopping Centre this festive season.

Taking place in Percy the Park Keeper's hut - the former Poppies unit at the Nicholson Centre (next to the carpark entrance).

Percy the Park Keeper and his friends are brought to life in a specially designed Story Den, created by the students of Berkshire College of Agriculture.

Snuggle into Percy's hut for stories, games and dressing up!

Suitable for ages 3+ years.

Tickets can be booked in advance or simply head down on the day (subject to availability)

The Carnival of the Animals - Lantern Parade

Saturday 10 December


Maidenhead’s Community Lantern Parade is BACK!  With live music and entertainment as we light up the night in Maidenhead.

The Parade is a celebration of community and the arts and encourages local people to get together, creating fantastic artworks, dancing and parading their fabulous creations through Maidenhead town centre. This year the parade will take a new route to celebrate the new Riverside Quarter.

Norden Farm will once again team up with SameSky, an award-winning community arts charity who have been creating fantastic lanterns, costumes and community events since 1987.

Get involved at one of our Lantern Making Workshops, running throughout November and December. Our expert lantern makers will guide you through the process to create your own lantern to illuminate at the parade.

Across 2 hours weave an intricate animal-inspired willow frame before covering and decorating your creation. covering and decorating. Suitable for 6+ years, pre-booking essential.

Through the use of mindfulness techniques, meditations, discussion, creative activities and art. Art ability is not important - all activities are focused on the process of creating as a mindful and relaxing practise rather than the end result.

Suitable for ages 12 - 15 years.
