Krapp's Last Tape

Krapp's Last Tape
Krapp's Last Tape is a journey through an old man's life, filled with hilarious memories and hopes for the future, coupled with the mourning of lost love and unfulfilled ambition.

Academy Award nominee Stockard Channing (Grease, The West Wing, Six Degrees of Separation) brings her distinctive directorial vision to this production. She explores the intricate layers of Beckett’s masterpiece and Krapp’s solitary world.

Starring David Westhead (W1A, Strike, Star Wars, Enola Holmes, The Bodyguard), a veteran of the Royal National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company, this 50-minute performance follows Krapp at 69 as he reflects on his life. He listens back to tape recordings he made in his youth, revisiting the daily events and turning points that shaped him.

The production has been described by The Birmingham Press as “a complete stunner”. The review praised Westhead’s performance as intense and compelling, noting his return to theatre after several years away.

John McAndrew of the Royal Shakespeare Company called it “just terrific, brilliant, outrageous, and heartbreaking”, highlighting its exploration of memory, love, and regret.
