Markus Birdman: Platinum

June 5th 2021, I had a stroke. It was my second. I found myself in hospital, mid lockdown, with no visitors allowed.

I've permanently lost half my eyesight. One night I went to the toilet and sat down on another naked blind man, already there. I was too blind to see him. He was too blind to stop me!

So it's not ALL doom!

I’d like to tell you about it. Not to create feelings of pity toward me, more a sense of awe & fawning admiration.

I have had a unique experience about a topic, often sniggered over, but I'm keen to make you laugh, but also to raise a little awareness. Well done me! (Ahem!)

Markus Birdman has thundered back into comedy with his Edinburgh Fringe show earning him a nomination for the 2023 Chortle Awards. He has also recently written for Jayde Adams and supported Jason Manford at the Palladium.

Rachel Fairburn: Showgirl

Rachel 'Very much the rock’n’roll star of British comedy'- Rolling Stone' - 'Fairburn delivers…with sadistic glee' – Guardian - 'Mouth Almighty' – Her Friends' is back with a brand-new tour for 2023.

She’ll be casting her acerbic eye over everything from your children to her pretentious new alcohol-free life (accurate at time of writing). She’s worried though. Has she mellowed a bit? She carries a lucky crystal now. Catch her before she disappears to the countryside with only joss sticks and taxidermy for company.

Co-host of International smash hit podcast All Killa No Filla and as seen on Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled (Dave), Richard Osman’s House of Games (BBC) and Russell Howard Hour Life Lesson (Sky)

Alfie Brown: Red Flags Galore!

In his new show, award winning comedian Alfie Brown is showing signs that he probably can't have a healthy relationship and proceeding down the road with him would be emotionally dangerous. But what are these signs? Alfie Brown is the most hated man in an internet forum that he is not even the main subject of. But perhaps reading the worst things about yourself can be an educational experience? Is the digital age turning us bad, or is it merely shining a light on the bad previously unseen?

Geoff Norcott: Basic Bloke

On his sixth UK tour, the comedian tries to make sense of the current cultural and political scene with his playfully provocative brand of humour.

Whether it's the dire blandness of the two main parties or the shamelessly shoe-horned right-on messages in adverts and films, Geoff continues to tread in areas much of comedy leaves well alone.

But this time around he also has a mission. As well as casting his everyman eye over what's happening in wider society, Geoff is trying to unpick what's happening with your average bloke. Remember them?

It’s been a rough couple of years for blokes. Toxic masculinity has grabbed all the headlines and ruined it for communal garden geezers, who have been put under the microscope like never before. At first glance, there’s not much to examine – there’s no Bloke 2.0.

Taking up his own bloke’s-eye-view, Geoff can see that despite the social media vortex, your man in the street, average Joe, man on the Clapham Omnibus and your John Smiths just keep plodding on, fuelled by a diet of football, sheds, super-hero films, sporting autobiographies, wearing socks at all times and strategically burying feelings when necessary.

However, under the paraphernalia of manhood and the sometimes basic, even primal, behaviour of dads and lads, Geoff can see that there is something mysterious and definitely non-toxic going on.

A kindly and funny stock-take of both himself and his fellow man, Geoff unlocks some of the more complicated behaviour of your husbands, dads and brothers.

'He has become one of our most refreshingly funny comedians of any stripe' ★★★★ The Times

Jo Caulfield – Here Comes Trouble

Voted Comedians’ Comedian of The Year 2021/2022, Jo Caulfield is quite simply one of the most consistently funny and creative comics in the country.

Hot on the heels of her sell-out Edinburgh Fringe run, Here Comes Trouble is packed with brilliant routines and fantastically embarrassing stories.

Audiences can expect razor-sharp observations and scandalous one liners as Jo gets her claws into everything and everyone. From yelling at strangers on trains (and many other places), to discussing ridiculous sexual fantasies and annoying her neighbours, Jo doesn’t mean to cause trouble; she just has the nerve to say out loud what everyone else thinking!

This is Jo Caulfield doing what she does best: pure Stand-Up. Just Jo, a microphone, and a bad attitude.

'Sharp-witted urban comedy that goes down a treat… like a sociology textbook but with jokes' The Times

Paul Foot: Dissolve

Life is a stress: full of rushed breakfasts, angry people, internal conflict and Jacob Rees-Mogg.

But what happens when everything you thought was important – your
problems, grievances against others, your very identity – simply disappears?

Dissolve is Paul Foot's most personal, surprising and ground-breaking show ever.

In the year 2022 AD something momentous changed for Paul, and in this show he will reveal how he discovered the secret of life on the outskirts of Lancaster.

Inevitably he does get distracted by King Tutankhamun, the House of Lords, Sir Cliff Richard, officious lollipop ladies and what Jesus might have achieved if he’d been a plumber.

As seen on Would I Lie To You?, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

‘Sublime, original, brilliant’ The Independent

To be clear, Paul discovered the secret of life while he was located on the outskirt of Lancaster. Not the secret to living on the outskirts of Lancaster. There isn’t an answer to that.

Presented by Plosive Live.
