Norden Farm Youth Theatre (Seniors 1)

Led by Karen Wallace-Jones and Jane Hibbs

After a long time apart, it’s time we rediscovered all the wonderful reasons we choose to come to Youth Theatre!

We’ll explore how we to tell stories by combining text and movement.

Drawing on the physical theatre styles of companies such as Frantic Assembly, we’ll play with the imaginative possibilities of using music and original text to devise short, original pieces to share at the end of term.

This class will be running online only between Thursday 5 November and Wednesday 2 December.

School Years 7 - 11
Wed 16 Sept - 2 Dec (exc 28 Oct) (4 Nov - 2 Dec online only)
4.15pm - 5.45pm
£97 per 10 week term

How do our online classes work?

The classes will take place via a video stream on Zoom where you'll be able to use the camera and audio on your tablet, laptop or other device to see and hear the tutor and other participants.

You simply need to book on to your class or workshop of choice as normal by the cut off time. We'll then send you a booking confirmation email with a link to your session, password and a meeting ID.

Pinocchio

The third in a series of three shows coming to the Norden Farm stage for Christmas 2020.

The objects of a carpenter’s workshop bring to life the tale of the puppet that wants to be a real boy, and the puppet-maker who wants to be a real father. A one man show starring Steve Tiplady, as Geppetto.

Pinocchio is carved on stage, brushes become a fox and the shadow of two saws transforms into a giant shark. An element of improvisation makes each performance unique to its audience.

Puppetry, shadows, illusion and especially composed music combine to create a show with something for all ages; it’s inventive, visually and verbally witty with a big heart.

Yoga sessions designed for primary school aged children.

Explore lots of different yoga poses in a fun and gentle way. Using your imaginations, you will look at how nature and wildlife inspires many yoga poses and exercises, lion breath for courage, tree pose for strength, cat pose for flexibility for example.

We will then take a short savasana (blanket time) to classical piano music. This resting time allows all the work and play to settle into the children’s bodies and brains. Each session will finish with a poem or reading.

You will need one yoga mat and one blanket each.

This class will be running online only between Thursday 5 November and Wednesday 2 December.
