Sketch or Paint a Landscape Panorama
Medium: watercolour or line and wash. Many landscapes lend themselves to be painted in a panoramic format, e.g. coastal, riverbank, mountains. You may choose to work on a long flat piece of paper or in a concertina format. Some photo reference will be provided and we will discuss working either from several photos to make a panorama or working from just one panoramic photo.
Please bring your own materials as indicated below:
- Watercolours and brushes
- Pencil and / or pen and ink
- Water pots
- Palette
- Paper towel
- Drawing board
- Block of wood or table easel
Paper: 15 x 11 inch watercolour paper and folded papers will be available at cost from the tutor.
If you are working flat and have A3, quarter sheet or half sheet watercolour paper you can divide it in two horizontally and work two panoramic compositions on the same sheet. Remember to bring a drawing board appropriate to your paper size if working flat. 300gsm cold pressed watercolour paper is suitable.
If you are working on a folded paper (concertina format) 300gsm paper is too heavy to fold easily so work on cartridge paper or a lighter weight watercolour paper.
Blocks of watercolour paper in a panorama format, folded Khadi watercolour papers and concertina sketchbooks are also available from art suppliers.
