Jo Harrop is an accomplished singer making big waves in the UK jazz scene. She has performed at the Royal Albert Hall; The 606 club, Pizza Express Jazz Club, amongst many other respected venues. Jo begun her career as a singer songwriter. She has written for Acoustic Alchemy’s album and Radio Contact, which featured on Courtney Pines, Jazz Crusade radio show.
The repertoire for this performance will include a mix of well know standards and some new songs from Jo’s new album When Winter Turns to Spring which won the Parliamentary awards for best jazz album 2023!
This performance is particularly unique because we have a special quest on saxophone. Jo Fooks has carved a solid reputation on the jazz scene ever since she was discovered by Humphrey Lyttelton whom she toured with for many years.
Jo’s melodic tenor sax playing is often compared to Stan Getz and Zoot Sims. The two Jo’s will be accompanied by the two Alexs. Alex Dankworth needs no introduction and we’re very pleased to have him with us tonight!
‘Jo does not just sing a song, she lives and breathes it; she believes in what she is singing, and that belief is transferred to the musicians around her which, in turn, creates something quite magical’ Simply Jazz Talk
