The gardener first shot to international prominence when he was kidnapped while on a plant hunting expedition in the Colombian jungle.
To keep his sanity while he was held captive, he planned a world garden for his home Lullingstone Castle. Today that garden opens its doors to thousands of visitors from all over the world.
Tom will be talking about the world's biggest flower spike The Queen Of The Andes, showing some unbelievable pictures of them in flower. He will also describe some extremely rare flora from the Canary Island of El Hierro - including the oldest known specimen of the Canary Island Juniper.
He will be bringing an almost unheard of plant flowering for the first time in the UK, The Cape Verde Borage, from a collection he made a few years ago. We've been informed it's just coming into flower!
WHY? The story of this capture and subsequent plant hunting expeditions to develop his World Garden into what it is today, is told with passion and great humour

There are many movies that we think we know, think we might have seen and can quote from, but actually haven’t!
This new series of shows aims to bring some of these films to the audience who know they should see them.
And what better way to start than a film that ticks all those boxes: The Graduate.
Released in 1967, this is a film about lust, seduction and love but with a sharp sense of humour and an amazing soundtrack.
Jeff Lloyd will present each film with a short introduction and some slides, pics, trivia and chat about how the films fit into our cultural landscape. Plus, there’s an interval!
'Are you trying to seduce me?'

In Jeff's quests to acquire all the 1970s and 1980s number one hit singles on vinyl he has accumulated literally 100s of 45 rpm singles covering approximately 1957-1995.
8 challengers will take their chance to rummage through the boxes in 20 minutes to find a single to play in 4 duels decided by audience vote. The successful 4 get 10 minutes to find their second one and finally 5 minutes to find the final one if they make it through! The added jeopardy is that Jeff has limited time to find videos to accompany the tracks!
