Ward Knutur Townes

Ward Knutur Townes found their sound when the world fell silent.

In 2020, these three singer songwriters were selected to take part in a virtual global music sharing experiment called Global Music Match. Teamed together, they spent several lockdowns turning their stories into soft harmonies and intricate melodies.

This year, they cashed in their stagnant travel points and started recording new material in Iceland.

Lucy Ward (Derbyshire, UK) is an acclaimed singer-songwriter and powerhouse performer with a unique ability to inhabit the heart of each song she sings. A BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner, her songs are a mixture of evocative imagery, quiet beauty, passion, protest and tradition all rolled into one.

Svavar Knutur (Iceland) is a gentle but coarse, decadent troubadour. He summons his inner demons and outer storms to reflect upon the existential crises and frolicking joys of modern day rustic fjord dwelling folk. Recipient of the Anna Pálína Árnadóttir memorial award for folk music excellence in Iceland, Knutur is a humorous storyteller and avid diver into the murky waters of the human condition, a fitting mixture of art and entertainment.

Adyn Townes (New Brunswick, Canada) is an award-winning alternative folk artist who uses self-deprecating banter and heartfelt lyrics to disarm any audience. A 5x International Songwriting Competition finalist, Townes’ unique voice and honest songwriting set the stage for a show that is high energy yet intimate, beautiful yet clever.

With more than a dozen albums between them, Ward Knutur Townes are releasing their highly anticipated debut record in October 2023.

Maidenhead Operatic Society: Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Maidenhead Operatic Society presents

Stephen Sondheim’s iconic award winning musical, which is in turn both comic and chilling.

Bloodthirsty barber Sweeney Todd has sworn revenge on the judge who destroyed his life. He now holds Todd’s beautiful daughter prisoner. Mrs Lovett needs to save her failing pie-shop. Together they hatch a murderous plan which could solve both problems…

Set in the backstreets of Victorian London, this dark and blood-soaked tale is widely regarded as having Sondheim’s finest score.

Sweeney Todd depicts scenes of a sensitive and violent nature. This is an amateur production.

Acoustic Guitar - Absolute Beginners

Led by Richard Lee.

Always wanted to learn guitar but never got around to it? Want to trade your air guitar skills for real guitar skills? It is never too late to learn. Learn guitar right from the very beginning. This is a foundation course for those with little to no experience of playing guitar. You will learn how to hold a guitar and to make the right noises out of it. The aim of these lessons is to get you playing your first song within 4 weeks of lessons, as no-one takes up guitar to strum random chords, it’s all about the songs.

If you are returning to guitar having not played for some time and can barely remember chords this is a great way of getting back into the swing of things.
