A wide range of new classes for adults begin this autumn ranging from Giddha dance to Embroidery with Attitude.
Norden Farm has always offered a programme of classes for young people, and has now extended this to include classes for adults. The courses offer an opportunity for people to pursue exciting or new interests in the arts, learning new creative skills.
There is a wide range of classes available, some of which come with external accreditation in partnership with Buckinghamshire Chiltern University College. The classes cross over a wide spectrum of interests such as creative writing, film history, embroidery and jewellery making. The tutors for the course are of a high calibre with professional reputations in their own areas. Christine Gibbs is leading both embroidery courses and has previously led successful courses at Reading College & School of Arts & Design, ITHACA Arts Charity in Oxford and South Hill Park. David Grubb, who is leading both creative writing courses has published a number of poetry collections, three novels and an autobiography. Amrit-kaur Bhamra who is leading the Giddha Dance course has been teaching and performing Giddha for fifteen years.
Centre Director, Jane Corry comments,
"Our youth participatory programme has been one of the Centre's great successes - last year more than 270 young people took part in classes every week, and 3,000+ were reached through our work with schools. We are very keen to extend our programme to offer adults similar opportunities to participate in the arts, and I am delighted that we have been able to engage a number of experienced and well regarded tutors to deliver workshops and classes for adults this autumn. As well as teaching specific skills, the classes also offer social and intellectual stimulation within the creative setting of the Centre's facilities. I hope they will be popular and can become a regular part of the programme."
The classes include: ROH Live: Romeo and Juliet Clinton Baptiste in The Paranormalist Returns ROH Live: Within The Golden Hour Over the Rainbow Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake (PG) Senior Youth Theatre Showcase - A Shakespeare Festival Glyndebourne: Barber of Seville Junior Showcase - A Midsummer Night's Dream
