The Beach: Get Involved

Due to Covid-19 and social distancing, the Beach has been postponed until Summer 2022. There are still lots of events and activities young people can get involved in at Norden Farm during the summer holidays - browse the line up here.

The Beach

The Maidenhead Beach at Norden Farm runs annually throughout the school summer holidays. Free to play on, just roll up and relax at a beachside café table while the little ones play in the sand.

No tickets required, this man made beach features 15 tonnes of sand, with a beautiful Goan theme!

Bring your own buckets and spades or buy a set to keep from the Box Office or the Café Bar.

All the fun of the seaside… without the drive!

Car parking is free at Norden Farm, and the building and Beach is fully accessible for those with additional needs.

Beginners/Gentle Yoga

Led by Julie Potter

This class is particularly suited to beginners, those returning to yoga having had a break, those with specific injuries or conditions or even those that consider themselves to be of a ‘certain age’ that might need a less challenging approach. We will cover general breathing practises, the basic and gentler postures, together with general information and possible discussion around movement and the potential difficulties we might come up against.

The aim will be to relax and enjoy.

The yoga I teach is an evolution of nearly 30 years of practice and study, with a broad experience of many styles and teachers. In recent years I have been moving away from ‘external’ evaluation of the postures and moving towards an ‘internal’ sense of the postures, moving away from the more used traditional approach of systemised yoga to a more experiential and ‘felt’ approach, influenced by teachers who have been inspired by the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli.

Intermediate Yoga

Led by Julie Potter

This class is suited to those who have been practising for at least 6. My intention for this class is to move our practise forward, explore different avenues and approaches to the traditional postures. We will be aiming to be going deeper into ‘awareness’ and ‘noticing’.

The yoga I teach is an evolution of over 20 years of practice and study, perhaps moving away from ‘external’ evaluation of the postures and moving towards an ‘internal’ sense of the postures, moving away from the more used traditional approach of systemised yoga to a more experiential approach. Whilst looking at traditional Hatha Yoga postures and pranayamas, I will be encouraging fun and freedom within the traditional structure, whilst taking into our awareness fundamental anatomical and functional aspects required by our bodies for maximum wellbeing benefits.

Suitable for all abilities, the workshops will focus on building confidence in your drawing abilities - concentrating on the soothing journey of the drawing experience, rather than the finished drawing.

In each session you'll explore how to produce different types of patterns in abstract drawings - looking at different designs each week.

Norden Farm Summer Choir

Led by Tabitha Beavan

Soulful Summer Singing Sessions at the Farm.

Join us for for a cappella summer sing-songs on the Farm. Led by Tabitha and inspired by the Pitch Perfect movies, you’ll experience how good it feels to use the voice you’ve got and create goose bumpy harmonies with others. We’ll also explore rhythms and body beats to really feel the groove. A totally inclusive choir, open to all who want to give a bit of ‘a cappella’ singing a go.

In each session you’ll learn two songs; a short warm up song and a well-known feelgood summery song – for example Surfin’ USA, Happy or Dance with Me Tonight. You can either attend individual sessions or come to the full series. Why not plan to arrive early to have a drink on the Norden Farm beach!

Tabitha Beaven founded the Maidenhead Tuneless Choir in 2016 and performs with Funkin’ Souled Out; a local funk, soul and disco function band. Her style is upbeat, full of energy and she is passionate about the power of singing for all.
