Align and Flow Yoga

Led by Deborah Le Vene-Page.

Align and Flow Yoga is influenced by the biomechanics and heart orientated philosophy of the Anusara Hatha style of yoga. With a specific alignment focus within the flow of postures the practice will tone and strengthen the body, improve posture and create more freedom in the body and mind resulting in a calm and relaxed state of being.

Each week there will be a different theme weaving its’ way through the session, but a typical class starts with breathing techniques to centre and ground, poses to warm up and then progresses to a fun and challenging mix of vinyasa and alignment yoga.

This class is designed to cultivate focus, stamina, strength, and flexibility. Leaving time at the end for a well-deserved relaxation.

Come prepared for an energising class that will also leave you feeling relaxed.

Paint a Small Concertina Book/Card

Led by Jo Hall

Paint a small concertina card or book in acrylic and acrylic paint pens, and make an origami closure band. This is an excellent way to experiment with a panoramic composition. We’ll cut and fold the book then choose a limited palette of colours and shapes to provide interest and also continuity from page to page. These make delightful Christmas gifts or unique cards.

You may choose to work in a representational way or in a more abstract way with repeated shapes and patterns as in the sample illustrated. Further info on materials and equipment are outlined below.

A selection of paint pens will be available for use at the session and paper will be available at cost from the tutor.

Please bring your own acrylic paints, palettes and water pots and some small and medium sized brushes, paper towel, scissors, and a pencil.

We will prepare the books from 140gsm A3 cartridge paper which will can be cut and folded in a couple of different formats yielding e.g. a 5 fold card about 7 x 7cm or a 7 fold booklet about 7.5 x 5.3cm.

Larger formats would require heavier paper and you may consider using 150gsm khadi paper. The book illustrated has 7 folds (8 pages) and is very small: 6.8 x 3.3cm!

Cats in Space

Imagine if you will, a heady mix of Queen, ELO, Elton John and all things 70s… then you have Cats in Space. A band brimming with majestic songs, boasting soaring vocal harmonies, power chord guitars, thundering drums and bass and huge, symphonic keyboards.

Landing on the UK Rock scene in 2015, they quickly built up a reputation as one of the finest Classic Rock bands to emerge this century and within a short space of time. With two critically acclaimed albums under their belts, they had toured the major UK arenas with Status Quo, Deep Purple and Thunder. They also featured with Phil Collins and Blondie at London’s Hyde Park.

Now it is time to Kickstart The Sun, a tour which began in 2022 and featured guest shows with Blue Oyster Cult. Performances roll on through 2023 as they head onto the biggest stages to date with a full two hour theatre-style show promoting the album. On release, this same album entered the UK National Rock Chart at number 1, made number 5 in the National Independent Chart and number 11 in the National Physical Album Chart.

Their musical history will guarantee to deliver an evening of original rock music that will leave you feeling triumphant and exhilarated as well as a Cat convert. The reviews and quotes are not hype. The band always delivers classic live shows (which continually gain overwhelming reviews from the British music press) and are about to go up another level!
