Bollywood Dance

Led by Parveen Chana

An energetic modern Indian dance style. These classes are a fusion of Indian and western styles with Latino and Arabic influences. All terms are 10 weeks long and suitable for all abilities.

A mix of dance styles ranging from Waltz and Cha Cha to Irish Dancing style. A variety of music accompanies these styles such as Shania Twain and Keith Urban (country) to Rebecca Ferguson and Megan Trainer (pop) with everything in between.

Scratch: Choreographic Platform

Five different dance artists share brand new works.

A captivating evening of contemporary dance theatre that gives emerging artists a unique platform. Curated by Charlie Dixon (4Motion Dance Theatre co and Charlie Dixon Dance), in conjunction with GradLab Project at The Point. There will also be a chance to see Elizabeth Pick's film Finding Focus.

The artists/choreographers taking part in this event are:

  • Workshops will take place across the building - Norden Farm will be well sign posted, use posters to find out where you should be and check the location on your tickets

  • We recommend dressing for mess at our workshops

  • The Café Bar will be open from 9am, serving food from 9am - 3pm. Why not start the day with breakfast? Snacks and soft drinks can be bought throughout the day. Newspapers and WiFi are available to keep adults entertained!

Spring Ceilidh

You’ll be in safe hands with the expert calling and playing from our band Nedron’s Jig.

The band formed specially for Norden Farm's Ceilidhs and between them play Squeezebox, Fiddle, Mandola and Bass. The four musicians consist of two from the folk super-group Feast of Fiddles and two from the band Phungus.

Caller Brian Jones will be on hand to guide you through all the dances. Brian has been involved in Folk Dance for many years, he calls not only the traditional favourites, but also his own original routines. His dances are used by dance callers right across the British Isles!

Dances include the likes of Nottingham Swing, Cumberland Square 8, Virginia Reel, Bridge at Athlone, Gay Gorden’s, Dashing White Sgt and The Willow Tree. Expect familiar tunes including Atholl Highlanders, Rogue’s March and Dashing White Sergeant.

WHY? A social evening of dance in our atmospheric 18th century Long Barn - no experience necessary!

Bellydance (Raks Sharki)

Led by Ellen O’Farrell.

You’re never too young or too old to learn to dance. Join us and learn to bellydance step by step. Come discover this beautiful feminine art form, gain an appreciation of middle eastern music and have lots of fun doing it. As a great side effect you’ll get some low impact exercise and strengthen your core muscles.

Classes are suitable for complete beginners. Wear anything you are comfortable dancing in, yoga trousers or a long full skirt are both ideal. Ellen brings a selection of egyptian coin belts and hip scarves you can borrow to dance in.
