Intermediate Yoga

Led by Julie Potter

This class is suited to those who have been practising for at least 6. My intention for this class is to move our practise forward, explore different avenues and approaches to the traditional postures. We will be aiming to be going deeper into awareness and noticing.

The yoga I teach is an evolution of over 20 years of practice and study, perhaps moving away from external evaluation of the postures and moving towards an internal sense of the postures, moving away from the more used traditional approach of systemised yoga to a more experiential approach. Whilst looking at traditional Hatha Yoga postures and pranayamas, I will be encouraging fun and freedom within the traditional structure, whilst taking into our awareness fundamental anatomical and functional aspects required by our bodies for maximum wellbeing benefits.

Please bring a blanket, a Yoga / Pilates mat, and wear loose comfortable clothing.

Bring Baby Choir

Singing is a great way to relieve stress and promote well-being.

Meet new people and take some time for you in this new acappella choir for mums, dads, grandparents, carers and their babies!

It is a baby friendly class, created especially so you can bring the baby you care for. Grown ups are in a semi circle (with room for your buggy next to you) and babies can sit, crawl or play on the blanket in front of you.

These uplifting classes are led by conductor/composer (and mum) Marta Radwan. There's no auditions, no singing experience is needed and you don't need to have a 'good voice' - just an openness to have a go! You'll be sure to know the songs and there will even be some which include your little one.

There's also:
* Free on-site parking
* Café (open all day)
* Baby changing facilities

Mums, Dads, Grandparents, Carers all welcome with their babies under 18 months

National Theatre Live: The Best of Enemies

David Harewood (Homeland) and Zachary Quinto (Star Trek) play feuding political rivals in James Graham’s (Sherwood) multiple award-winning new drama.

In 1968 America two men fight to become the next president. But all eyes are on the battle between two others: the cunningly conservative William F. Buckley Jr., and the unruly liberal Gore Vidal.

During a new nightly television format, they debate the moral landscape of a shattered nation. As beliefs are challenged and slurs slung, a new frontier in American politics is opening and television news is about to be transformed forever.

Jeremy Herrin (All My Sons) directs this blistering political thriller, filmed live in London’s West End.

Kirtan

Led by Janette Moy

Kirtan is the practice of gathering together to chant universal mantras. It is the Yoga of Sound, the repetition of the mantras allows us to experience a meditative state. The mantras help relax the mind and re-energise the body / mind as well as release stress /
worries. It is uplifting and healing.

Anyone can join in, you do not have to be able to sing to chant, each of us has a unique primal sound to express and all our voices blend together into one sound. You can sit on the floor or a chair if you need support, you can also stand, move or lay down if you want.

Please bring a cushion or blanket rolled up to sit on. You might like to bring a shawl or blanket around you (not essential, just cosy). If you require a chair please arrive early to give time to organise this. Bring water to drink.

I look forward to sharing these medicinal mantras with you.

The Mark Armstrong Quartet - From Miles to Marsalis

Celebrating music from Miles Davis to Wynton Marsalis.

Mark Armstrong (trumpet, flugelhorn)
Alex Hutton (piano)
Dave Mannington (bass)
Andy Ball (drums)

Mark Armstrong began his musical journey at a young age. Through various youth orchestras, an Oxford music degree and a post grad from the Guildhall, he has earned a strong reputation in the UK’s jazz scene.

He is a member of the Ronnie Scott's Orchestra and a hugely admired educator. His trumpet playing encompasses the entire Jazz History. To hear him in a small band setting is especially rewarding – he has that feel good factor!

This concert explores the ‘Tension and Release’ or ‘ Call and Response’ bands such as Miles Davis and Wynton Marsalis exhibited.

Watch out for spontaneous arrangements especially regarding in the rhythm that will take everyone off guard – even the band!
