Align and Flow Yoga

Led by Deborah Le Vene-Page

Align and Flow Yoga is influenced by the biomechanics and heart orientated philosophy of the Anusara Hatha style of yoga. With a specific alignment focus within the flow of postures the practice will tone and strengthen the body, improve posture and create more freedom in the body and mind resulting in a calm and relaxed state of being.

Each week there will be a different theme weaving its’ way through the session, but a typical class starts with breathing techniques to centre and ground, poses to warm up and then progresses to a fun and challenging mix of vinyasa and alignment yoga.

This class is designed to cultivate focus, stamina, strength, and flexibility. Leaving time at the end for a well-deserved relaxation.

Come prepared for an energising class that will also leave you feeling relaxed.

Age guidance: 18+ years

Poetry + Memory

Led by Gupreet Bharya

Recalling People, Place and Experiences Across Perspectives.

How do we remember the past? In this workshop, we’ll explore poems about memory and what they can show us of the self and broader ideas of society, relationships and time. We’ll also dive deep into our own memories and breathe new life into some of the experiences that have shaped our routes into the world. How do we hold our memories and how much do we hold on to them? How do they make us feel?

Perhaps our memories are boxed away with our childhoods – people and places seen through innocent eyes. Or maybe they are free to surface our minds and shine like little lights – welcome memories that remind, motivate and inspire us to choose a different path.

We’ll explore vast memories wrapped up in small objects and immerse ourselves in the senses – sight, touch, smell, sound and taste - that continue to keep our memories alive, despite the inextricable passage of time.

In celebration of South Asian Heritage Month, all the poems we’ll look at in this workshop are written by poets of a South Asian background. Join an intimate group of like-minded, curious and enthusiastic writers and learn, create and share your work in a safe and supportive space. All levels of experience are welcome.
