The Eight Mountains (12)

Italian with English subtitles.

Dir: Felix van Groeningen, Charlotte Vandermeersch 2022 | 147 mins

In a secluded village in the Italian Alps, an unlikely brotherhood forms between two boys, Pietro and Bruno.

Over the years Bruno remains faithful to his home while Pietro aspires to greater heights.

As decades pass and lives unfold, their paths ultimately lead them back to where they first met.

‘Watching Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch’s vivid, sweeping film about male friendship is like reading a satisfying novel... The film’s narrative turns may get a bit grandiose toward the end, but what precedes that is rich and moving’ Vanity Fair

‘The spiritual dimension of Pietro and Bruno’s bond has its appeal, and one of the movie’s pleasures is that it takes male friendship seriously’ New York Times
