Intermediate Yoga

Led by Julie Potter

This class is suited to those who have been practising for at least 6. My intention for this class is to move our practise forward, explore different avenues and approaches to the traditional postures. We will be aiming to be going deeper into awareness and noticing.

The yoga I teach is an evolution of over 20 years of practice and study, perhaps moving away from external evaluation of the postures and moving towards an internal sense of the postures, moving away from the more used traditional approach of systemised yoga to a more experiential approach. Whilst looking at traditional Hatha Yoga postures and pranayamas, I will be encouraging fun and freedom within the traditional structure, whilst taking into our awareness fundamental anatomical and functional aspects required by our bodies for maximum wellbeing benefits.

Please bring a blanket, a Yoga / Pilates mat, and wear loose comfortable clothing.

Art Themen (sax) - Back to Bebop

One of the great masters of the British Jazz scene returns.

Art Themen played tenor saxophone with a university jazz band while studying medicine at Cambridge.

After qualifying as a doctor, he moved to London and in the early 60s played in several blues and R&B bands. During this period he worked with Alexis Korner, Phil Seamen, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Rod Stewart, Joe Cocker and Long John Baldry. In the late 60s and early 70s his musical direction shifted towards jazz and he played with Barbara Thompson, Michael Garrick, Henry Lowther and Graham Collier.

In 1974 he began a long and particularly fruitful association with Stan Tracey, which continued into the 90s. He has also accompanied numerous visiting US jazzmen, including Al Haig, Red Rodney, George Coleman and Nat Adderley. A highly individual playing style marks Themen’s performances.

Rye Lane (15)

Dir: Raine Allen Miller 2022 | 82 mins

Yas and Dom are two twenty-somethings both reeling from bad break-ups. They connect over the course of an eventful day in South London, potentially restoring their faith in romance.

'No other British film has, in a generation, done such imaginative work in restructuring romantic comedy. It is one of those rare films the audience didn’t know it really, really needed.' ★★★★★ The Irish Times

'Rye Lane marks the torch not just being passed, but eagerly seized.' ★★★★★ Daily Telegraph

'Will leave you with a smile on your face, a spring in your step and (hopefully) a renewed confidence in next-wave British film-making' ★★★★ The Observer

'It’s a frothy metropolitan comedy with some heyday Richard Curtis energy and a deep affection for its well-crafted and smartly performed characters...' ★★★★ The Times

'The romcom has lapsed into such an anaemic state that Rye Lane feels like a miracle. Here’s an entry into the genre that doesn’t surrender to thinkpiece-ready neuroticism.' ★★★★ The Independent

'Though Rye Lane was made with Disney money, the vibe is more indie-movie / Channel 4 sitcom than slick blockbuster – with a bit of screwball comedy thrown in.' ★★★★ London Evening Standard

'Ridiculously charming, immensely funny, and shot with an unusual zestiness, Rye Lane is purely joyful company - and a shot in the arm for future romantic comedies.' ★★★★ Empire Magazine

'Fun and fresh with an appropriately sweet ending.' ★★★★ Little White Lies
